The Union of Bulgarian Film Makers award has been bestowed on Iranian feature film ‘Melancholia’.
Directed by Morteza Atashzamzam, ‘Melancholia’ brought home the Award of the Union of Bulgarian Film Makers from the 25th International Film Festival ‘Love is Folly’ in the Bulgarian city of Varna this week.
‘Melancholia’ was competing against 12 other titles in the main competition section of the festival for the Gold Aphrodite award.
The film narrates the story of people afflicted with bipolar disorder, though they are not aware of their mental condition.
Among cast members are Leila Otadi, Hamid-Reza Hedayati, Laleh Eskandari and Nader Fallah.
Atashzamzam expressed delight over the warm reception of ‘Melancholia’ at the festival, adding that he has been invited to take part in the jury panel at a Bulgarian film festival devoted to children and adolescent films.
The 25th International Film Festival ‘Love is Folly’ was held in Varna, Bulgaria, from August 25 to September 3, 2017.
Launched in 1993, Love Is Folly Film Festival is a competitive event that features selected films produced during the last two years dealing with the subject of love.
